Hi everyone! My name is Ryan. I'm an indiehacker running app businesses all by myself. I started PointAnswer out of necessity because I was overpaying for a helpdesk with simple requirements.
I used to run my helpdesk and host my docs with Zendesk. It wasn't a cheap solution, but it had the help center structure that I liked the most. Initially, I was paying about US$30/mo for OnVoard. But as time went on, Zendesk added more and more unnecessary features for enterprises that I didn't need, making the whole platform harder and harder to use. Then, they were bought over by a PE firm, which kept raising the price over time.
When I use Zendesk for my second SaaS business, RenderKu, it costs me $70/mo. This amount is more than 3 Hetzner servers I'm paying to host the whole infrastructure. And I'm only choosing Zendesk mainly for hosting documentation.
At this point, when I was planning to start my 3rd app business, the thought of forking another $70/mo for hosting documentation made me rethink my options. I've eventually come to the conclusion it would be better for me to start PointAnswer and use it as helpcenter for all businesses, and serve other small businesses alike.
I built PointAnswer for my other businesses. I know how it's like to run a small business where every cents count. So if you run a small businesses, chances are that our pricing and features will be caterred for you, not large enterprise.
